为什么选这个专业?

I initially was undecided 和 had 西班牙语 listed as a minor. I quickly realized how much I enjoyed speaking another language 和 how easy it was to incorporate with another major. 市场营销 eventually came naturally, as I wanted to find a career path that was spent working with people, but not necessarily teaching.

What is your career objective?

I hope to use both of my majors in my career, whether it be an international marketing firm or working for a grassroots/nonprofit organization.

How has what you’ve learned prepared you for your future?

Carroll’s courses often relate to one another, which is really helpful. I think the biggest thing I have learned is that culture plays a role in every aspect my life. Businesses have culture, cities have culture 和 families have culture. Language is merely a part of it all.

Have you had opportunities to work closely with Carroll faculty?

Getting to know my professors has truly been a blessing. Professor De Costa has been a big cheerleader along the way. She has seen me grow in my abilities as a first-year student at Carroll to a well-rounded 西班牙语-speaker on our Cross-Cultural Experience (CCE) 古巴. She has helped increase my confidence in using 西班牙语 more frequently outside the classroom.

What is the most memorable experience you’ve had in your education at Carroll?

My CCE 古巴 has honestly been the most amazing experience during my time at Carroll. I would have never imagined traveling to another country without my family. It was a great opportunity to meet the locals 和 really test my knowledge of the culture 和 the language.

How has Carroll enriched your growth as a person?

As a commuter, I am thankful that I was able to balance my double major 和 working part-time. Carroll has reminded me to keep an open mind 和 that work-life balance is important. However, I think I have been most impacted by the PioCore classes. These have helped me explore my interests, allowed me to feel confident in my choice of majors 和 become more independent.

What would you say to someone considering 西班牙语?

Take every moment to speak up when you can. Practice makes perfect, 和 being fluent in 西班牙语 takes more than one semester. Sí se puede!

How has financial aid made a difference in your life?

As a freshman I received the Voorhees 奖学金 along with a donor-sponsored grant, along with a couple 奖学金s from my hometown. I really believe that, without this support, I might have chosen another school 和 my life would have been completely different. I am thankful for the opportunity I was given.

What’s your favorite place to study on campus?

Personally, my favorite study spot is the second floor of the 图书馆. 它是安静的, but not too quiet, 和 there are bean bags to lounge on if regular chairs aren't your thing.
